Judy Brigham has been a Rotary member since July 2000 and served as President of the Iola Rotary Club in the 2003/2004 year. Brigham’s term as Rotary President brought an opportunity to participate in a Rotary/VOSH international mission led by PDG Ellis Potter and has since served on four additional missions. Brigham served on the Iola Rotary Board for three years and was honored in 2012 to be asked to serve as an Assistant District Governor for the three most northwest clubs of Rotary District 6110, and finished her third year in that position in July 2015. Judy Brigham is a graduate of the District Leadership Academy of 2014 and looks forward to utilizing her knowledge from that program to better serve District 6110 and her local Rotary Club. After reaching the second level of the Paul Harris Fellows and inspired by PDG A.C. Moncrief, she became a member of the Paul Harris Society of Rotary International in 2014.
DG Judy's professional life has included management of a restaurant and a motel; however, she spent 33 years working in municipal government, retiring as the City Administrator for the City of Iola, Kansas. While serving in the City Clerk/Finance Officer position for Iola, she was elected to the Kansas State Board of City Clerks and Municipal Finance Officers Association, eventually serving as the State President. In 2004, she was chosen to serve on the first State of Kansas’ Emergency Response Team to Florida following Hurricane Frances, and was again selected to serve two tours of duty in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. When promoted from City Clerk/Finance Officer to City Administrator in 2006, she was the first female to serve in that position and was responsible for a $32 million annual budget and 120 employees.
Brigham received an Associate in Science Degree in 1991 while working full time for the City of Iola. She earned hundreds of hours of Continuing Education Units in business management from Wichita State University and graduated from the Kansas University’s Certified Public Managers Program in 2007.
Brigham has been involved in a number of local community organizations including school activities - PTA and Band Boosters, and served as President of both, board member of the local Chamber of Commerce, Bowlus Fine Arts Commission, and currently is an active member of the Community Involvement Task Force/PRIDE committee.
Judy has been married to Tom Brigham for nearly 30 years. Tom retired in 2011 from the United States Postal Service and is a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy. Tom was a homebuilder and cabinetmaker before his employment with the USPS. Tom is a fellow Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow , a Paul Harris Society member, and has served on four Vision Quest missions. Judy and Tom have three wonderful daughters, five beautiful granddaughters and one lovable grandson.
